forever new year is four extended exercises in repetition.

the genesis for forever new year (the song and the album) was fooling around with a rudimentary multi-track recording phone app years ago. for some (or no) reason, i recorded the same guitar part (which became forever new year (the song)) over and over on multiple tracks instead of different parts/instruments, which pretty quickly resulted in sounds (harmonics) that hadn't been played/recorded. you can hear the harmonics beginning about a minute into forever new year, and the back half of the song includes the initial phone recordings. the creation of new, unperformed sounds through the repetition of other sounds intrigued me and led me to explore the idea of extreme repetition in different ways, with different instruments and production techniques, while subtly (sometimes more subtly than others) adding to the basic repeated riff/theme/motif at the heart of each song.
